Most of the gadgets now are widely using remote control. If all the buttons make the IR emitter to give light, therefore your remote control is ok.

also if some of the buttons can trigger the light and some are not, therefore you still need to buy a new remote control. Buying a new remote control is not costly than bringing your appliances to electronics shop only to find out that the remote control was malfunctioning.
