No sound
Usually, the common cause of this problems are the sound card, speakers and the cables. Check at the device manager if there is no error and the drivers are compatible. Re-installing the sound driver probably fix this one.
Intermittent Sound
If you're using USB speakers, unplug other USB connections, USB hubs, and make sure the speakers are correctly plugged into PC's USB ports. This will help to eliminate any possible bandwidth on the USB channel. Also make sure that the USB cable is not defective.
Crackling or noisy sound
Try to remove your sound card to a new one and put it away from other cards. Remove any electrical equipment from the vicinity of your speakers and make sure that your speaker cables are shielded against magnetic interference.
Distorted Sound
The usual cause of this problem is having set at a volume in which the speaker can't support. Purchase a higher quality speaker or just set the volume at a lower level which the speaker can handle comfortably. This fault also probably caused by a sound card.
